Welcome to my blog, not only about the world of the clinic I work at, but the animal world that I am involved in as well.
The clinic I work at is called the Windsor Animal Clinic and is based in Dimondale, Michigan. It is owned by practising Veterinarian Dr. Jeff Cripps, and the operation of the day-to-day things is managed by myself. My name, if you haven’t picked it up yet, is Lauren, and I am a Vet Tech here at the clinic. My job is to assist in all aspects of it, from animal handling, to running tests and diagnostics, to surgical assistance and general upkeep of the clinic itself.
On a regular business day, you will see my fire-truck red HHR in the parking lot, ready for anything and everything coming through the door. On the other days, you may find that same one in Howell, visiting my friends at the Howell Conference and Nature Center, a wonderful animal sanctuary that will take in almost any injured or orphaned Michigan-native wildlife with the intent to either treat and release it, or to find it a permanent home as an educational animal for the public. Or, you might find me at home, with my husband, Chris, and my cat, Jenna, working on some artsy project (usually with yarn), or just relaxing and reading a book. Speaking of, if this piques your curiosity, you can see my projects at me Etsy shop called Sommertymecreations.
I have had many experiences, both in and out of the animal world, from my past jobs as anything from cook to retail associate (to pay for school), to those of a student at Michigan State University (go green, go white), to being an animal handler at both a wildlife sanctuary and at a small-scale zoo, to a volunteer at Potter Park Zoo. Maybe, if you continue to follow my posts, I will let you in on some of the more interesting stories of my life. I promise, there are some good ones you won’t want to miss. In addition, I hope you will find the information I put on here useful, but I do want to remind you that for specific concerns for your pet, it is ALWAYS best to seek medical advice from your Veterinarian. While I can give tips, tricks and signs to watch out for, a medical issue does need to be seen first-hand and in person to be the most accurate. That aside, I am more than happy to continue with need-to know owner information.
Well, thanks for reading my biography, and I will let you continue on… also feel free to click on the page next door to learn more about the Clinic!
